Vietnam to propose 5 year visa exemption for 5 countries

The visa exemption will be extended to 5 years, the staying period in Vietnam up to 30 days, which will help attract Western tourists to Vietnam.

On 28 April, the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism submitted their proposal of visa exemption to Government from one to 5 years and staying period from 15 to 30 days for the citizens from United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. This is one of the most efficient solutions of exemption policy which was promulgated since 1st July 2015.

The reason for this proposal is that the staying period of 5 days is not attractive for Western tourist because their travel usually lasts 3 -4 weeks. According to the Index of Global entry in 2016, the citizens from Germany, UK, France, Italy and Spain are of 10 countries that receive visa exemption from more than 170 countries in the world.
