Thanh Toan Tile-Roofed Bridge
Thanh Toan Tiled-Roof Bridge in Hue is a centuries-old heritage site that reflects the spirit of Vietnamese rural life through its wooden bridge, countryside market, and Agricultural Tool Exhibition House. Recently, it was selected as a model destination for plastic reduction, combining cultural preservation with environmental protection. This initiative marks a meaningful shift toward sustainable tourism in central Vietnam. The bridge’s charm now extends beyond history—it represents eco-conscious community efforts. Visitors can explore tradition while supporting a greener future.
With support from the TVA Project and local authorities, five tourism businesses near the bridge have adopted low-plastic models. These include gardens, homestays, and craft workshops that now use refillable water bottles, glass containers, and eco-friendly alternatives. Plastic bags and disposables are being replaced by greener solutions to protect the environment. Waste bins and educational signage help guide tourists in responsible behavior. These pioneers are setting an inspiring standard for the rest of the commune to follow.
To assist the transition, the TVA Project provided water purifiers, reusable containers, and communication materials. Local leaders and business owners have pledged to maintain plastic reduction efforts and promote awareness in the wider community. Here, travelers can enjoy culture, connection, and conscious travel all in one place.
